It takes an enormous effort for guide dogs to perform their jobs. They must be neutral and ignore all distractions while working. For Labrador Retrievers this is exceptionally hard as these dogs are very social animals and have particular weaknesses for food and attention. Fortunately they also love to please their people. It is this natural desire to please that allows them to overcome the stresses and distractions that come with their job.
